Benjamin Badock allows a surprisingly fresh view on the traditional medium of woodcut. With the title of his extensive series of »Plattenbauten« (»prefabricated cement-slab high-rises«) the artist makes references to a declined architectonic utopia of the East. Additionally he refers to a system of printing plates, which he uses in seemingly endless combinations. He uses simple modules that become complexe stuctures and at the same time counteract with their cheerful occurence the seriality and uniformity of architecture. In his recent works the residents of the Plattenbauten come more and more into play, standardised characters, as well as interiors and still lives.

Released on the occasion of the solo exhibitions »untitled (AHA!)« at the Städtische Galerie Delmenhorst from 2/12/2011 until 5/2/2012 and »Hauskauf ist Vertrauenssache« at the Städtisches Kunstmuseum Spendhaus Reutlingen from 29/10/2011 until 8/1/2012.
